My name is Katharina Michael and I was born in Bremen, Germany. I worked mostly for TV and radio, so writing is still new for me. Nevertheless I enjoyed working on my article about the HI-virus a lot. In my opinion it is a topic that can not be reported enough. A lot of young people consider AIDS as a threat from the past, a disease that has nothing to do with them. I first got interested in the subject when I worked for Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, in a country where 20 percent of the population suffer from it. This also led to my decision to specialise in war and conflict journalism from next year on, where I hope to intensify my research about the difficulties that come from the worldwide spread of HIV.
